RACE WEEKEND AT A GLANCE
For the third race in a row, Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s Toni Elias and Roger Hayden went 1-2 in the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship race on their Suzuki GSX-R1000 Superbikes at Road Atlanta.
Hayden put the GSX-R1000 on top for the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship chase.
M4 SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki’s Valentin Debise and Xavier Zayat scored podiums in their respective classes aboard their Suzuki GSX-R600s.
At the St. Louis Supercross, Ken Roczen finished a strong second on his Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing Suzuki RM-Z450.
Obermeyer Suzuki's Mackenzie Tricker won the third round of the AMA Women's Motocross Championship in San Diego, and then followed it up by winning the WXC class of South Carolina’s Big Buck GNCC on her Suzuki RM-Z250.
Elias Earns Third Consecutive Superbike Win at Suzuki Sponsored Road Atlanta MotoAmerica Event
At the MotoAmerica Suzuki Superbike Shootout of Georgia at Road Atlanta, former Moto2 World Champion Toni Elias scored his third consecutive series victory on Sunday. Elias and his Yoshimura Suzuki teammate Roger Hayden gave the team their third-straight 1-2 finish aboard the legendary Suzuki GSX-R1000 Superbike.
Hayden continued his perfect string of Superbike podium finishes with a second and third in the two Road Atlanta races. Hayden took over the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship series lead by one point over Elias.
“Obviously I can’t be too disappointed with two podiums and leaving here with the points lead,” Hayden explained. “Overall I leave here feeling good going into New Jersey, but I’m really focused on getting some wins.”
It was also a great weekend for M4 SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki at Road Atlanta. Team riders Valetin Debise and Xavier Zayat scored podium finishes on their razor-sharp-handling Suzuki GSX-R600 machines. Debise was on the box twice in his pair of MotoAmerica Supersport races, while Zayat made the podium in Superstock 600 race two.
The 2016 MotoAmerica Championship moves to New Jersey Motorsports Park on April 29-May 1 in Millville, New Jersey, for the first of two visits this season to the track. The races will be televised on beIN SPORTS.
Roczen Scores Podium in Front of Fox Network TV Audience
RCH Suzuki’s Roczen, who scored a strong second in St. Louis on his potent Suzuki RM-Z450, remains a solid second in the Supercross standings.
“We’re fighting really, really hard and having a blast,” Roczen said after his ninth podium finish.
Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s Blake Baggett, RCH Suzuki’s Jake Weimer and Broc Tickle, and TPJ/Fly Racing/Suzuki’s Nicholas Schmidt all qualified in St. Louis, making the Suzuki RM-Z450 five strong in the main.
In the 250 East ranks in St. Louis, it was Matthew Bisceglia (MAD Racing/Yoshimura/Suzuki) and Jimmy Albertson (Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki) putting the agile Suzuki RM-Z250 into the main.
The Supercross circuit travels next Saturday, April 23, to its debut in Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, for the 15th race of the season. It will be the second of back-to-back live telecasts on FOX Broadcast Channel, with an afternoon start time of 4 p.m. ET.
Select Team Suzuki riders will be on the ground on Friday, April 22, for a dealer appearance at Bettencourt's Suzuki, 31S. Main Street, W. Bridgewater, MA, from 6-7:00PM.
Tricker on her RM-Z250 Take Two Impressive Victories
It doesn’t get much more memorable or impressive than the feat Obermeyer Suzuki’s Mackenzie Tricker turned by scoring two hugely impressive victories from coast to coast. After winning the third round of the AMA Women's Motocross Championship in San Diego, the Aussie sensation followed that up by winning the WXC class at South Carolina’s Big Buck GNCC. Both victories came riding her potent and nimble Suzuki RM-Z250.
